Untuk menghemat waktu, 24 siswa menginap di kawasan tak layak huni yang mereka sebut ‘asrama’. Mereka tinggal di gubuk terbuat dari kayu seadanya demi mengenyam pendidikan di SD 04 dan SMP 04 Kecamatan Lumar.
Asrama tersebut terdiri dari delapan pondok yang semuanya terbuat dari kayu beratapkan daun sagu.
Fasilitas di dalamnya sangat sederhana. Tempat tidur beralaskan kayu dan berlantaikan tanah. Bangunan berumur belasan tahun itu terlihat rapuh di sana-sini.
Kepala Dusun Sempayuk, Iyun mengatakan, para palajar tersebut hingga kini belum mendapatkan perhatian sama sekali dari pemerintah daerah. "Mereka berada di asrama itu semenjak mereka kelas 1 SD, karena kalau dari kampung asal mereka menuju ke SD dan SMP 04 perjalanan mencapai 4 jam, makanya mereka menginap di asrama agar bisa bersekolah di Kecamatan Lumar," ujarnya, Rabu (30/1/2019).
Beberapa kakek dan nenek juga tinggal di sana untuk mengurus pelajar tersebut. "Alasan mereka selain jauh dari kampung asal, mereka bisa mengasuh cucu-cucu yang menjadi pelajar di SD dan SMP 04 Kecamatan Lumar," jelasnya.
Salah satu siswa, Franhina Lina mengatakan, dia terpaksa menginap di sana untuk menghindari perjalanan jauh dari rumah ke sekolah.
Sesekali mereka kembali ke kampung halaman untuk membawa beras serta bahan pokok lain memenuhi kebutuhan sehari-hari mereka.
"Kami tinggal di sini semenjak kelas 1 SD, dan sekarang sudah kelas VI. Kalau kebutuhan pokok biasa dikirim orang tua, tapi kadang juga ambil sendiri ke kampung, seperti beras dan sayuran," paparnya.
Menanggapi hal itu, Gubernur Kalbar Sutarmidji menegaskan jika ia akan menindaklanjuti terkait kelayakan yang diperlukan oleh ke-24 pelajar tersebut.
"Kita akan bantu kelayakannya," ungkap Bang Midji saat dikonfirmasi Okezone di ruang kerjanya.
Ia pun mengatakan jika ia akan segera mengunjungi pondok sederhana yang viral di media sosial itu.
"Saya akan ke sana," ujarnya menutup pembicaraan.
