Dijelaskan Kompol Bayu Pratama Gubunagi, Kasi STNK Subdit Regident Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya, saat ini pihak kepolisian tengah mensosialisasikan aturan tersebut secara intensif agar optimal. Nantinya, setelah masyarakat sudah mengetahui peraturan tersebut, tidak kaget saat pihak kepolisan benar-benar memberlakukan penghapusan regident kendaraan.
"Butuh sosialisasi dahulu, nanti masyarakat kaget lagi kendaraannya dihapus. Maka dari itu, di masa sekarang, kita push terus informasi ke masyarakat," jelas Kompol Bayu, saat berbincang dengan dengan Liputan6.com melalui sambungan telepon, Kamis (25/10/2018).
Lanjut Kompol bayu, jika saat ini ada pemilik kendaraan yang memang memiliki kendaraan yang STNK-nya mati dan belum diperpanjang selama dua tahun, silahkan diurus agar kendaraannya tidak menjadi bodong.
"Belum berlaku, karena masih sosialisasi, dan kita informasikan dahulu. Sangat boleh (mengurus STNK), sebelum dihapuskan masih memiliki kesempatan untuk memproses dan mengurusnya," pungkasnya.
Untuk diketahui, dalam peraturan yang tertuang di UU Nomor 22 Tahun 2009, pada pasal 73 ayat satu, Kendaraan Bermotor Umum yang telah diregistrasi dapat dihapus dari daftar registrasi dan identifikasi Kendaraan Bermotor Umum atas dasar, permintaan pemilik Kendaraan Bermotor Umum atau usulan pejabat yang berwenang memberi izin angkutan umum.
Ayat dua, setiap Kendaraan Bermotor Umum yang tidak lagi digunakan sebagai angkutan umum wajib dihapuskan dari daftar registrasi dan identifikasi Kendaraan Bermotor Umum.
Sedangkan berlanjut ke pasal 74 ayat 2 huruf B, penghapusan regident kendaraan bermotor dapat dilakukan, jika pemilik kendaraan bermotor yang tidak melakukan registrasi ulang sekurang-kurangnya dua tahun setelah habis masa berlaku STNK.
Sedangkan ayat 3 menyebutkan, kendaraan bermotor yang telah dihapus sebagaimana dimaksud pada ayat satu tidak dapat diregistrasi kembali.
