Waluyo dinyatakan meninggal setelah mengalami kecelakaan tabrak lari di Wonsoari, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. Setelah didatangi, korban sangat mirip dengan Waluyi, pria yang selama ini bekerja sebagai tukang becak tersebut.
Waluyo dan keluarga mengetahui kecelakaan lalulintas yang dialami Waluyo dari media sosial Facebook. Waluyo lantas dimakamkan di tempat kelahirannya, Suren Kulon, Canden, Jetis, Bantul.Setahun berlalu, Waluyo tiba-tiba muncul di rumahnya. Keluarga Waluyo pun kaget bercampur senang. Begitu pula dengan para tetangganya.“Tiba-tiba ada yang ketuk pintu rumah. Pas buka pintu, kaget. Ibu bilang, ini siapa? Saya cuma melongo, saya lihat kakinya (nyentuh tanah) baru yakin, saya langsung sungkem,” ujar anak pertama Waluyo, Ani Ristanti, Selasa (2/8/2016).
Kepada wartawan, Ani bercerita bahwa ayahnya Waluyo berangkat kerja pada Januari 2015. Ayahnya, kata Ani, memang kerap tidak pulang ke rumah. Bahkan, Waluyo pernah sembilan bulan tidak pulang tanpa kabar.“Pernah pergi sembilan bulan, nggak ada kabar. Saat saya mau nikah cari di pangkalan becak, enggak ada,” tambah Ani.
Ani lantas menceritakan kronologi meninggalnya pria mirip Waluyo pada tahun Mei 2015. Saat itu, kata Ani, ada kecelakaan tabrak lari di Wonsoari, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. Ani dan keluarga mendapatkan kabar tersebut dari Facebook. Setelah mendatangi rumah sakit, korban memang sangat mirip dengan Waluyo.“Wajahnya persis sama, tinggi badan dan bajunya juga mirip. Tapi mungkin yang dulu itu gelandangan,” tambah Ani.
Karena korban sangat mirip dengan Waluyo, Ani lantas mengakui jika itu ayahnya. Ani dan keluarga merawat korban selama enam hari hingga akhirnya korban meninggal dunia. Korban lantas dimakamkan di tanah kelahiran Waluyo di Suren Kulon Canden Jetis, Bantul.Dikatakan Ani, saat di RS Sardjito, dia sempat mengatakan kepada pria itu bahwa dia akan menikah. Pria yang mirip ayahnya tersebut merespon. Tak lama setelah itu, korban meninggal.Setelah Waluyo kembali, Ani dan keluarganya tidak akan membiarkan sang ayah pergi lagi. Terlebih, Waluyo sudah tua.
